Grassroots Pledge

Fellow Patriots,

Yesterday I told you we were working on something big. We put out a call for help, and almost immediately we were overwhelmed with volunteers. Now we're ready to begin phase one of our path to victory for 2010.

I'm going to explain the details of this phase here shortly, but first I want to ask you to do something. I need you to strongly consider taking our new Grassroots Pledge. And don't just take the pledge yourself. Invite anyone and everyone you know to do the same.

The Missing Piece

Last night, we held a conference call and came to the conclusion that our movement needs a surge towards a goal to end incumbent power in Congress.

Our movement has groups working on issue advocacy, grassroots organizing and general tea party activism, but we're missing a campaign component. We're missing the piece that allows us to unify around new candidates and knock out powerful thugs in Congress. With this in mind, I'll be joining a team of tea party activists to launch Liberty First PAC this week.

Liberty First PAC

Our mission is simple. We refuse to help any incumbents, and we pledge to work towards defeating any incumbent who voted to support Nancy Pelosi's dangerous healthcare bill.

Our goal is to:

a) Identify Patriot Candidates and help them run successful campaigns against power hungry politicians

b) Build a national educational media campaign to help the general electorate understand what our government is attempting to do to us

Grassroots Pledge

We need tens of thousands of American Patriots to help us build this, and this begins with you. Please take the pledge now. After you've done so, invite everyone you know to do the same.

Contribute

We have an urgent immediate need to raise $5,000 to build our PAC website and get all of our paperwork filed. If you can give us a hand, please click here.

Stay tuned and watch your inbox for the next few phases of our plan. We hope to launch the second phase, "Operation Information Warfare" the first week of December.

This is war, folks. Let's prepare for battle.

For Liberty,
-Eric Odom

I just received this follow up email offering some clarification on the goals:

"Clarification

We've received countless emails in the past 24 hours, and many of them have challenged us to clarify our statement on defeating incumbents.

From a glance, it appears as though there is an equal amount of support on both sides of this issue. About half the emails we got about this demanded we try to defeat all incumbents, the other half stated we should support many incumbents.

To be clear, we never claimed that we would oppose all incumbents. What we stated is that our mission is to oppose incumbents who voted for and support dangerous healthcare legislation that was passed last weekend.

That's it, that's all. "

This is about voting out elected officials who vote in favor of Heatlth care legislation, and not simply voting out all incumbents. Here is the actual text of the pledge:

"Yes, I will vote against my member of Congress in 2010 if he/she votes in favor of government controlled healthcare. This is my pledge."

There are many fine, conservative, sitting, elected officials at all levels of government. Most of them were fighting the good fight long before the Tea Party Movement was even conceived. I have no problem with vetting / re-vetting these individuals to confirm their sincere, conservative political philosophy.

I will oppose any effort to unseat legitimate, conservative elected officials simply because they had the guts and commitment to achieve public office before we, the political couch potato conservatives, AKA the Tea Party Movement, FINALLY got up and joined the fray.

As written, I will not sign or support this pledge.

you are focused on only one item., what about cap and trade, and other issues. We are not a one issue group. This past year we had some many BIG issues.
