Resist, Rebuild, Restore (Strategy Overview)

Grassfire.org has launched this “Join The Resistance” campaign to give grassroots conservatives a place to join together around the common goal of holding off as much of the Obama agenda as possible. Our goal is to bring together hundreds of thousands of resisters this year. When combined with similar efforts from the tea party movement, Glenn Beck's 9-12 effort and others, together we can mount a successful, patriotic, idea-based resistance.

Web-Based Resistance
The key will be providing web-based structures that truly equip conservatives to Resist. Step #1 is the Join the Resistance Petition. This platform is the foundation for everything else we will do. A million-strong email network provides us with the ability to respond immediately to each and every effort by the Obama administration to undermine our liberties. If you have not yet signed the petition, please do so now.

ResistNet adds to this foundation a platform for social networking that will connect Resisters to others in their communities. Our goal is to give concerned citizens both a forum for ideas and a practical way to get involved. Ideally, anyone who is willing to invest their time in advancing this patriotic, idea-based resistance to this new wave of socialism would be able to contribute through ResistNet in two key areas: providing solid, idea-based content and helping to organize locally through our State Groups.

We are also exploring ways to put the tools of the Resistance into your hands through mobile phone-based apps that allow you to Resist on the go. We will use fax, email, phone, and personal visit campaigns to press our case with leaders in Washington, D.C., who need to know that millions oppose Obama’s rush to the Left. Many have asked us to provide branded resources such as hats and t-shirts to help spread the “Join the Resistance” movement. We will add resources and tools based on need, practicality, feasibility and cost.

Resist, Rebuild, Restore
Resisting is just the first step. That is why we propose a three-phased recovery for conservatives: Resist, Rebuild, and Restore. We believe that resisting will create newfound unity among conservatives. Out of this, we must then Rebuild our structures. New, invigorating models must be developed that inform, equip and bring together conservatives and prepare us to return our ideas to political prominence. Again, the Internet will be a key battleground. The Left has moved far ahead in its embrace of and usage of new 2.0 technologies. The Rebuild process will leave Americans with a clear ideological and practical choice between the Left’s statist model and our model based on God-given individual liberties.

Having rebuilt, we can then Restore conservative ideals to leadership by winning elections. Ultimately, a movement’s ideas must result in electoral victories because that is the basis for legitimate authority and ultimately for implementing one’s ideas.

Resist. Rebuild. Restore. It’s not an easy path for grassroots conservatives, but it is a clear path. We know what we must do. And it begins with resisting rightly —respecting the new President but never backing away from the God-given ideals of freedom and liberty upon which this nation was founded.

Comment by steve garland on January 17, 2009 at 7:50pm: I feel that it is time that we as conservatives need to get back to our roots as a people. First we need to get back to being conservative, we need not reach out to any group but instead stand on our values of morals, the Constitution and less government and more the people. If we do this a lot of people we come to us instead of us trying to get them to come to us. It worked for Reagan and it can work again. Also why should conservatives always try to reach across the isle and compromise when the liberals never try to reach across the isle to us.

Comment by Al "X" on January 7, 2009 at 8:12am: I see a lot of talk about "restoring conservative ideas to leadership" etc., about God given rights, about freedom - but not one word about applying the Constitution as the absolute standard to determine what ANY government, far left liberal or so-called conservative, is allowed to do under ANY circumstances. Any effort to "regain power" will only lead us back to the point at which the Left took over. They won this time because the word "conservative" has become a joke under Bush and we haven't done anything to stop him. That is the real reason why Obama won. It's not about "left vs. right".
It's about the Rule of Law vs. the rule BY (unconstitutional) law -- and we have seen that both sides are easily guilty of that one!

When we first went to enroll our daughter in our churches Christian school, the principal commented, "There is a major philosophical difference between a Christian school and the public school." The Christian school centers everything around Jesus Christ from chapel to English, history, math, sports, etc. The child's deportment is considered including attitude, effort, behavior, conversation. The Church, school and parent must agree for the proper education of the child. The child has proper mentoring models, loving, Christian discipline, and attitude, action and effort are evaluated throughout the child's school day. World Net Daily has a post on removing Christian children from the public school, books are available such as "None dare call it education" by John Stormer. What I see in our community are new buildings, technology, etc. but my question is, what is the vehicle that conveys knowledge? It's the teacher!! Their pay's being cut, there are fewer of them and what they teach is a far cry from my day (the 50's and 60's) An aside, where do we find such people as William Ayers, et. al.? In the universities - and we wonder why we're losing each generation of children from a Christian up-bringing! Dave.

I teach 10th grade English and we adopted new textbooks this year. In the non-fiction genre, we have a model of the perfect essay in our book: "What I See in Lincoln's Eyes" by Barack Obama. These are brand new books, released by Glencoe THIS YEAR - the year that Obama was running for president. There is a picture of Lincoln and a picture of Obama below him. It's clear propoganda, reaching out to snag the minds of our youth.
How WRONG is this to put this article in a public school textbook during an election year when this person is running for president? We pay for public education textbooks with our tax dollars!

By this I mean, band together with other parents, go to school or stand up at PTA and say you oppose and will not allow your child to listen to same sex anything, hateful speech about USA, abortion matters, and you want no more kicking God out of their lives, school papers, holidays and on and on or..........this band of parents tell them they will pull their kids out of school until they agree. They will loose money for each day the kids are out of school and will panic. It is time to stand up and fight back and not just let the NEA to fill our kids with junk, distorted history etc. This could happen all over the country and the teachers union would be backed into a corner and the media would get hold of this and the news would embolden more and more parents that have had enough!!!!
