Career
David's political career started in 1991 when he served on the Arizona State legislature, representing the Scottsdale and Fountain Hills area. He served there until 1994. David has also held a position on the State Board of Equilization and most recently served as Maricopa Country Treasurer.

Energy
David is adamant about pursuing oil shale, clean coal and natural gas as well as alternative forms of energy such as solar, wind and alternative fuels. David believes the Country's energy policy should be an “all forms all the time."

Abortion
David is pro-life and was himself an adopted child.

Fiscal Stance
David has been a fiscal conservative his entire career. David wants to push to limit the growth and size of federal government. David believes in eliminating earmarking and pork barrel spending. David will not vote to spend money we don’t have.

Taxes
David Schweikert believes that cutting taxes is fundamental in growing the economy. He will work to make the existing tax cuts permanent, push to reduce capital gains taxes, and eliminate the death tax.

Second Amendment
In Congress, David will oppose any bill that attempts to restrict the right of the people to keep and bear arms. He was also a prime sponsor of the Concealed Carry Law in Arizona.

Illegal Immigration
David believes in securing the border against illegal immigration, trafficking, smuggling and incursions by: finishing construction of the fence, holding companies accountable for hiring illegals, using high-tech surveillance to monitor the border, deploying additional Predator-B U.A.V's, and hiring more border patrol agents and supplementing when necessary by placing National Guard troops on the border.

Government Reform
David believes in government reform through representing the people's interests, not big spending special interests.

War On Terror
David will push to make sure that our intelligence agencies, military, and state and local law enforcement agencies are well equiped to fight terrorism both here and abroad.

Victims' Rights
David will work hard to protect victims' rights and bring balance back to the American justice system.
