I am committed to insuring the freedoms of our great nation. I want smaller government, stop wasteful spending, personal responsibility back, energy independence and to follow our Constitution
I am a big fan of personal responsibility, educating yourself, working hard and getting back up. I also believe that this Great Nation of ours DOES NOT owe me a living.

I am also keen on people not playing the victim, not feeling a sense of entitlement, and not fearing competition. And when you are struggling in a tough economy, you don’t lay blame and give up or ask for (no let me rephrase that) expect a government bail out. YOU WORK HARDER!!!! As far as the energy problem goes DRILL BABY DRILL!!!!!!! Windmills and solar power are not going to put gas in our cars, trucks, planes, trains and boats. Yes we absolutely we need to seek alternate fuels and should go balls to the wall to develop them, but we must have oil now and in the future. The government needs to get out of the way and we need the environmental, wacko nut bags to shut up!!
It is my intention to have people think. I am hoping that we can engage in meaningful discussion and maybe learn from each other. We all have to open our minds and look for the TRUTH, stop this crap “I am right and any other way is wrong. Has anyone ever heard the saying Agree to Disagree???

I personally believe that this Great Nation of OURS is in grave danger. If WE THE PEOPLE don’t wake up and demand from our politicians (Democrats and Republicans) to stop these games we are all going to lose our Country. Both parties are trying to divide us and it is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone is interested in meaningful dialogue about the state of our nation, I will be happy to try and search for the truth with you. If you are interested in name-calling and insults, DON”T BOTHER and if you do not care about our children and Grandchildren’s Freedom and future then you can just continue living in your own world. (Maybe things will work out)

Live in the American spirit in which you want this country to remain. Honest, responsible, understanding, holding true to the Founding Fathers and the documents they created for US. Be pro-active, not re-active.
I seek the truth and real solutions. I hope to here from you.

Pete, Thank you for all your hard work. And all the other workers also. It keeps me going in my efforts, as limited as they are, to help our citizens see what the government is doing to our country. I just talked to the little leaguers dad and his son landed on the Iraq border a couple of days ago, and he is getting ready to go in. May God watch over this boy, and all our fighting men and women, for us, please. Andrew, my son, and I, have made the committment to write Matt every week, and to send care packages, esspecially on Christmas. There are many soldiers, I'm sure that could use this type of support, so maybe we could send some extra for his "buddies". We will try.
I watched a short film on our country, I got it at the Augusta Rally. It was from the John Birch Society, the name of the film was "Overview of America", it had a great overview of how the free market, free capitolist system compared to "then and "now, and compared to socialist- marxist types. It is easy to understand and is a great film to see how the current administations of our government is going away from Republic, to a form of dimocracy. It is so easy to see in it for me, I think everyone should see it.
Thanks again everybody, hisory will reward you, not that you are looking for that. I hope you now the huddled masses that know what is going on really appriciate it to. I have talk to many.

Pete t1. Unfortunately, the Constitution is not very flexible.

2. Amendments is one of the ways the Constitution and the government can respond to the changing needs of the country.

3. An amendment is a written change made to the Constitution.

4. Only the president needs to approve an amendment for it to be written into the Constitution.

5. Two thirds of the states can ask Congress to call a national convention to propose an amendment; however, this method has never been used successfully.

6. The word ratify means to reject.

7. Most of the amendments that have been approved have been sent to the state legislature for approval.

8. An amendment cannot be canceled if the people decide they do not like the effect it is having on the country.

9. Many traditions observed by the government are part of an unwritten Constitution.

10. The president meets regularly with his cabinet.

11. The Constitution can be considered a “living document”.

12. The framers of the Constitution believed that they could foresee all of the changes the United States would undergo.

Sorry, Pete! It's been a scary and very busy 2-3 months. Wife, Ginnie, diagnosed with uterine cancer early June. On fixed income. Doing what I can with my web site: http://www.Dontmaxtax.ME Thanks for what you're doing. Wish I could do more. I wish we could make the DC trip. I think it will help...but....term limits, e-voting and controlling OUR MONEY OURSELVES is at least part of the solution. The politicians, especially the incumbents, have everything going for THEM. It should not be THAT WAY! We need to start the WE the PEOPLE (WTP) party and come up with our own candidates. At the least our votes for them will be votes the incumbents won't get. Best...

Nice to meet you, Pete. Good job on the web site. We share similar sentiments. I'm 70 and have seen a lot of politics - too much politics. I feel that the way to take back our country is by restricting OUR flow of money to Congress which has over the years wasted little time in misappropriating it. If we restrict the flow of tax money to DC, then and only then will WE be in the position to remind our reps, the administration and all federal agencies who is their boss. Same for the State and local scene. Any candidate from Maine who wins a future election has to really represent his people else suffer immediate recall. Well, we'll give two weeks to explain their action(s) or lack thereof and, if we want, after mulling over any lame excuse(s) and allowing a cooling down period, we'll then give him/her the boot - if we want! How are we going to do this? For the most part, previous traditional voting methods have failed. Electronic voting HAS to take the place of traditional voting. As you're probably quite aware, to institute e-Voting is not rocket science. If people were motivated to do it, it could be accomplished in a few weeks. Doing so will save each town and state a heck of a lot of money. Representatives realizing that they could be given the boot in two weeks could be expected to act more favorably! Second, the states pay the reps; not the boys club paying themselves and raising their own salaries. ALL STATES SHOULD PAY THE SAME FREIGHT! It could and should be tagged to the CPI. How else do we take back our country? Let's really look hard at the tax issue. To get the attention of the whole Washington crowd and their like around the country, we could refuse to work for a week, that is, if we were really organized. But that's difficult to pull off.. although the threat and its effect has a certain appeal to me. However, that is second to convincing all tax payers that a National Consumption Sales Tax of no more EVER than 10% MUST replace the Federal Income tax, the IRS and the Tax Code. This has to be done in fairness to all who put their troosers on the same way as the next fellow and if all men are truly created equal! The progressive tax is a negative incentive and punishes success. Similarly, ALL states MUST be restricted to 5% sales tax and no income tax. All Towns and Cities get 10% sales tax. Everyone who is working and is able bodied and mentally fit would be taxed a maximum EVER of no more than 25%. Everything is subject to sales tax except the five basic needs. That's it! If the federal, state and local governments can't "live" on these revenues and whatever else is FAIRLY generated in the form of fees, subject to voter approval - tough cookies. First outlay ALWAYS would be per the Constitution - for our common defence! No more Property Taxes anywhere and taxing THIS and taxing THAT! No Capital Gains tax! No excise taxes. no personal property tax. Only paying Sales Taxes would leave 75% of a person's income to pursue happiness - including 30% towards making one's mortgage. Assuming one is free of other debt, the remaining 45% then is the person's own and no one elses. In other words, we have to control not only our own purse strings but also Congress' purse strings because Congress and our legislatures are not getting the message. Politicians have abused their power since time immemorial so now they have to learn to live like everyone else - honestly. Taxing everyone fairly will even help to reduce crime! Think about it! we have a lot of work to do. Complaining and sitting on our thumbs is not going to get it done. Politics as usual is no longer acceptable. It isn't a matter or question of just finding the right candidates. if you and your supporters are talking politics as usual rather than unusual politics then we are going to be strange bed fellows essentially wasting each others time. I don't have a heck of a lot of time left. I don't want my legacy to my grandchildren to be a socialist mess not worth paying for. If the USA is going to remain the land of opportunity per the Declaration of Independence, then there has to be respect for the dollar. Spending HAS to be curbed! Spreading distrust is a schoolyard exercise. Speaking ill of the other party accomplishes little. Politics as usual presumes that everyone has the brain of a grape. If we are intelligent beings, we need and must demand representation by intelligent beings, not party robots! No one is perfect and we all make mistakes, but we should strive for perfection and settle for something only a tad less. Oh! We should also restructure the entire federal pay system. Each state would decide their own pay system. The federal retirement system would instead be the same as the one offered by the representative's state. In other words, no more federally paid retirement system except for civil service employees. I suggest that all elected federal representatives should serve the same 6 year period and receive the same pay! Supreme Court justices would receive the same pay as a Senator or representative. The President should receive twice the annual pay of Senators and Representatives. Lower court justices should receive one half the annual pay a Supreme Court would receive. I have more opinions and suggestions but the foregoing is probably enough for most people to digest for now. Thanks for listening..... Brian
