Loved your story. Thanks for sharing. I would have had to have run home and gotten in the shower after leaving the Obama Walgreens...ewwww. I would have felt totally violated! = ) I'm thinking all those items you mentioned seeing there will be disappearing soon. I read where the White House lawyers are concerned about the "image" of Obama being used so much. In lawyer speak, all that means is Obama is upset he isn't getting a cut on the profits of having his name &/or face being used on everything from shirts, to bottles of water, to buttons, to who knows what. I'm thinking Obama condoms would be QUITE a good marketing item for Nancy Pelosi's "stimulus" package. The Kook-aid drinkers would snatch those up and be bragging about their intimate contact with The Messiah. I think it's a great marketing campaign myself. Sometimes if you can't beat them, I say join them!
I feel sorry for you being swamped with these people all around you. I'm grateful for my "red state status", but if I went into downtown Atlanta proper, I would be the minority in more ways than one. It was all I could do to keep my car from performing the pit maneuver on any car I saw with an Obama/Biden sticker on it before Election Day. Even now, I just roll my eyes.
You were very nice to let that clerk have her happy, happy, joy, joy speech time. Don't know that I could have done that. Like today, I'm at the AT&T store and proudly wearing my Steeler sweatshirt and a guy says to me, "That game saved my marriage last night." Same thing at Quiznos to get a salad for lunch, "You a Steelers fan?" (DUMB question!) It's a great conversation starter and a way to find if someone is on your side or not. Though I would not wear a "McCain" shirt again, per se, Sarah Palin, absolutely.
Yes, we need a multi-ethnic, dysfunctional, ex-drug user who is a closet smoker, pathological liar, evil to the core S.O.B. who can play a musical instrument and is cool and hip to run in 2012. My mind runs a blank on such a person in our party. Kid Rock maybe? No, he's too white. I'd run for office, but after seeing what they did to Sarah Palin, I have too much in my past that would disqualify me as a Republican, but probably put me in as the front-runner as a Democrat! Go figure.
I think we inspire each other. Some days, you feel like, "Am I the only one who thinks and feels this way?" It's just good to know you're not fighting this battle alone. It's sad when you have to put your US Senators and US Representatives into your contact list on your cell phone. It's just wrong! I'm glad I'm on AT&T...I'd hate to have them in my "circle" so to speak!
