Well, Hal, for the most part I like this guy, but some of his likes and dislikes need to be tempered (IMO) if he is going to win an election. He needs to convince I's and D's along with R's that this is the person they need to represent them and some of those may think he is a little off-putting because of his strong convictions. We do need someone with strong convictions, but we have to get them in office, too. That's just my opinion for what ever it's worth.

Tee Taylor,
Thanks for your critique. I'm sure you will grant that our past habitual and incremental moderation to "convince I's and D's" has given us a very bitter harvest, and has brought us to ruin. Many of my fellow Congressional candidates concur that the R's and I's are starved for their Representatives to fight for our national survival archetypes. If the D's find comfort in my conservatism, that's fine, but I'm not going on the fool's errand of courting them. Republicans have been doing that kamikaze drill for years; no more. We conservatives have great principles that float all ships, but those values have been so diluted by PC and fear of "off-putting" that they've become meaningless; no more. As Glenn counsels: State your positions forcefully. I always have, and I also give reasons for my positions. Anyone can say they're opposed to abortion, homosexual marriage, feminism, etc., but the electorate hunger for, and are entitled to, reasons. My campaign website is also a basic do-it-yourself kit for any conservative candidate, cadre, or volunteer to get conservatives into office. The electorate is sick of politicians playing them to get into office, They want unapologetic candidates with the courage of their conservative convictions who fearlessly articulate them. That equates into trust, which will be critical in the coming battles for our Republic. Thanks for your opinion. It's worth a lot; so is your support.

Ernest.
I do support you and you don't realize how much I appreciate the fact you will not compromise yourself or your beliefs. If more people took that stance, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in, IMO. Where I was coming from with my comments is I feel we are on shaky ground right now and I have some trepidation about a hard right swing, where voters are concerned. I was also taking into consideration the greater Seattlearea being primarily Democrat and how the R's statewide are almost always out-voted. As an example, in the recent election, Eastern WA voted overwhelming for the Property Tax Initiative, and against the Domestic Partnership Referendum. Are you seeing a shift back to conservative values in your area? If so, is there enough of a shift to assure your election? I would like to see you replace Reichart, so talk to me. Tell me what's going on in your neck of the woods.

Hal, one of the problems we have had with the Republican Party candidates was that so many of them have not been conservative and so they did not act like conservatives when they were elected. We, here I mean citizens in general, are sick and tired of being lied to as the recent poll that said that just 96% think that campaign pledges are a joke.

That said we can have great conservatives like what Ernest appears to be but the question has to be can we elect them. Tee brings up some great points and Ernest has made some great answers. Ernest it appears needs to have some solid issues that he can champion rather than the conservative vs. moderate issue as this confuses most voters. And voters must be attracted if any candidate is going to win.

Dave Reichert has participated in making the job market weaker here in our state. He has participated in making our bills go up in a reccession. He has done things that are attackable and any good candidate should find a way of making these issues formost in the mind of voters in a nonmud throwing way.

I agree, James, in that I believe the best way for Ernest to showcase his conservative credentials is to go after Reichert on specific issues and/or votes from his tenure in office.
Right now, of course, the job market, the deficit ( federal & state ) are white-hot issues that will carry over into next year.
Other issues are illegal immigration impact on the state in terms of education, costs, gang related crime, English Only, illegals taking jobs from citizens, etc.
Over the course of any campaign, a candidate has the opportunity to "flesh out" his or her positions on abortion, taxation, budget cutting, education, health care, climate change, energy. etc.

I will even go father, if Ernest wants to create a short video of himself talking about issues he is free to post it here. I enjoy these types of things. But relating to the voters on issues is the real task that Ernest has and it is what Ernest needs to sell himself as the person who can do this.

A great place to start; and perhaps Ernest has already done this, would be to go to a Tea Party and speak with a random selection of perhaps 20 to 30 people, couples or families there.
That would give him a great feel for what people are thinking .

Ernest has been the chair of the Issaquah Republicans, if he can get an early endorsement from them, his church, and several of the groups that he associates with and then start an endorsements list that he can publish his credibility would sky rocket. Perception is reality with many people, especially voters. This endorsement list then can also be used to gather speaking engagements and hopefully donations and more supporters.

Even though I am not in Ernest's district and can't vote for him, I will do what I can to help. Unlike the majority of politicians, Ernest states (on his website) what he sees as the wrong direction this country has taken and HOW he intends to reverse that. The next question is, how do we appeal to the college set who vote?

I can do some research on Reichart's voting record if you would like.

What a great group you are! Thanks for your considered comments. I'll try to cover them all.

Tee: I'm in east King County, which is far less liberal than Seattle. I worked R-71 on the sidewalks, carried petitions into Reid's office, and know that we lost because most pastors refused to mobilize their congregations -- and I rebuke them for that. The most poignant part of the campaign for me was when a first generation Russian Christain girl asked me with tears of disbelief why the "Americans" weren't defending their country. I'm seeing a shift to conservative values because people see the grim reaper fast approaching, and I intend to empahsize that reality by continuing to speak plainly, strongly, and uncompromisingly. No one can say for sure if there is enough of anything to assure anyone's election, but I can assure you that if you and the rest of us do nothing but talk we will surely lose. You can work my district by phone from where you live. Get a magicJack for $40, write up a script, get phone listings off the web and turn to. There are enough people who are members of this Washington State board to win this Congressional election. Read my the Strategy section of my website; it's all there.

James: I've been clearly conservative for decades and included a letter I wrote fifteen years ago showing those values. I worked strongly on all of Dino's campaigns and helped ensure the 5th Legislative District has stayed totally R for ten years. My campaign website contains my doctrine and explicates it clearly, forcefully, and reasonably. No one coaches me; I have no advisers; I've had Top Secret clearances for over thirty years; what you see is what you get -- unlike my opponent. But seriously, ask yourselves just what would it take to convince you of anyone's sincerity and reliably. There are three general tests that I use: Is what someone says logically consistent with the truths you know; does what they say correspond with what they do; and, does what they say, when taken to its logical conclusion, benefit you, your family, and our country. You can elect conservatives, and I mean no disrespect here, but you have to physically work real hard to do it. The issues you raise about Reichert, I have already introduced on my website. I have many more, but voters only need repeated representative samples. As a good candidate I need my supporters to spread the word. It's not a one-man show -- we're in this together and the stakes are enormous. We can win if we fight. I will work on producing a video; that's a fine idea. Please read my entire website, where I address many of your comments on campaign Strategy.

Hal: I think you will be pleased at my fleshing-out of the issues that concern us. I'm sounding like a broken record, but they're on my website. I refine them as necessary, but most of my research is done. They only thing left to do is talk to the people, and that's the fun part.

Thanks for all of your counsel, and it will be my honor to serve you in Congress.

Ernest, I do not live in your district, but I would like to help. We have video capabilites and offer there use to you, if you need them, it is not the best but it should do for internet type videos.
One other thing, regarding your comment. "There are three general tests that I use: Is what someone says logically consistent with the truths you know; does what they say correspond with what they do; and, does what they say, when taken to its logical conclusion, benefit you, your family, and our country." I agree with that but, I would prefer that a Congressmen would put the Country ahead of individuals and families. We can take care of our selves for the most part if the government just gets out of the way. Just my two cents worth.

Pat:

Thanks for your video offer. I think I have that capability, but will surely let you know if I don't.

You are correct about prioritizing value tiers. My listing order was ascending. One can certainly amplify the list, e.g., self, family, nation, Constitution, Christendom, God. I fully agree that government employees are in the way. Please read my Sovereignty plank. http://elect.ernesthuberforcongress.com/ Your two cents are always welcome.
