The following is cut from State Senator Derek Kilmer's electroinic newslettrer of today:

Town halls scheduled for Feb. 20

Rep. Larry Seaquist and I will be appearing at three town hall meetings in the district on Feb. 20. We had to fight to get these scheduled because, in a short 60-day session, the legislative calendar is quite condensed. But these meetings are important to us.

By that time, the Legislature will be just three weeks away from adjournment. We'll be on the cusp of making some critical decisions. By then, one chamber may already have introduced a budget proposal with the other soon to follow.

But before any final decisions are made, we need to hear from you.

So here's the schedule.

From noon to 1:30 p.m. we'll be at the Bremer Student Center on the Olympic College campus in Bremerton.

From 2 to 3:30 we'll be at the Givens Community Center in Port Orchard.

And from 4 to 5:30 we'll be at the Peninsula High School Auditorium.

We very much hope to see you there.

Stay in touch
You don't have to wait for my town hall meetings to let me know what's on your mind. Feel free to call my office or send me an e-mail if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks for reading and I'll check back next week with another update.

Best,

Yea Hal, I heard the same thing, but until he makes it official, I try to keep it vague.

I spoke to Doug Cloud down in Olympia at the Sovereignty Winterfest.
He says he is definatly running.

Scott, I believe Allen was deployed. I have talked with Randy, it was a few months ago, but he was not interested at that time. or at least that is what he told me. Doug Cloud told me last year the he was considering another run, so if he is we should hear from him soon.

Dicks is a powerful man and it will take another strong man to run against him.
This is the guy we need to get.

Randy Neatherlin is not afraid of a fight and has earned a loyal following. His race was the most expensive in the state for the primary. Second in the House races for the general. He did this with little money all of the money was his opponents. He did well in Kitsap and Grays with no help from the State. He is a threat to Debolts leadership. Randy made his own commercials Click here: YouTube - Randy neatherlin (Taxes)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryyLoA2RWk4
and even pounded his own signs. I saw him get standing ovations in Kitsap and Thuston caucus. The writer for the Kitsap Sun (Steve Gardner) called him the Republican Obama for his speech in Kitsap. We need to get him out one more time. He ran when no (R) stood a chance, why not get him to run when he has a chance?

These clips don't do hi justice. This was his first forum and he only got better. I hope you take the time to watch. If you know anyone make this happen. Call him!

Hal Washburn Comment by Hal Washburn on January 13, 2010 at 10:36pm
Dear Mr. Washburn:

Thank you for contacting me to comment about the Stupak Amendment to the H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act. I appreciate your comments.

One of the primary outcomes of H.R. 3962 would be to create a new health insurance "exchange" intended to provide a new source of affordable, quality coverage for the roughly 46 million uninsured Americans and the millions more whose current coverage is unaffordable or inadequate. By pooling together millions of under- and inadequately insured individuals into one competitive and regulated marketplace, insurance companies will need to reduce costs and improve service in order to get business. Included in the exchange would be a publicly managed insurance plan, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, and subject to the same requirements as private plans.

As introduced, H.R. 3962 banned the use of federal funds to provide abortions, except in cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother's life. If an insurance plan covers abortion services, it must keep federal funds, including subsidies, separate from the funding used to fund abortions.

During consideration of H.R. 3962, Congressman Bart Stupak offered an amendment that would effectively preclude every plan offered in the health exchange from covering legal abortion services, even if no public money is involved. Further, it would block state and local insurance plans from participating in the exchanges if they offer legal abortion services - again regardless of whether any federal subsidies are involved.

Despite my strong opposition to the amendment - and what I believe are serious legal questions about a ban on the use of private funds for a procedure that is legal - it passed on the House floor and was included in the final version that passed the House on November 7th. The Senate bill contained language more in character with what appeared in the House bill before it was amended, and this is one of the main issues that must be resolved before final passage. I am hopeful that its final version will not include the severe restrictions on abortion funding that were attached to the House bill. To this end, I will work with my colleagues in Congress to pass a final health care reform bill that will provide coverage to all Americans while not unfairly restricting an individual's access to a safe and legal abortion.
===================================================

Congressman, we both know that the Healthcare Bill, HR 3962, has evolved into something that accomplishes few, if any, good things for the American people, while it would destroy one of the best healthcare systems in the world.
HR 3962 does not reduce the cost of healthcare.
HR 3962 allows illegal aliens to have coverage at the expense of U.S. Taxpayers ( your employers!) something you promised you would not vote for. ( remember ?)
HR 3962 makes no attempt whatsoever to rein in the out-of-control trial lawyers and the cost of malpractice insurance.
You and your accomplices has tried to vilify the insurance companies, the drug companies and anyone else opposed to socialized medicine, yet the
trial lawyers seem to be invisible. You have sold your vote cheaply.
HR 3962 will quickly destroy Medicare and Medicaid.
HR 3962 is no where close to being revenue neutral!!
HR 3962 gives the government unimagined control over the lives of American citizens. ( socialism)
HR 3962 would not lead to all Americans being insured, and there are NOT 46 million uninsured, Sir. You continue to count the illegals among us, no doubt hoping they will vote for
your sorry butt!
I find it hard to believe that even someone such as you would want to be a part of passing this piece of garbage onto the American people!

No one wants this ugly legislation to be passed except for the anti-American Obamanistas. You are obviously one of them.
We at home are praying that next year is the year that you are retired as you are of no use in rebuilding this great nation.
James D Rutz Comment by James D Rutz on January 13, 2010 at 9:59pm
Hi all. I just recieved Norm Dicks newsletter and I could not stand not replying to him. Here is a copy of what I wrote in the passion of the moment.

Dear Rep Dicks

I read your newsletter with much chagrin. I was the Chair of the Washington State Patriots and Washington for America. We tried to meet with you and we did deliver over 6000 signatures to your Tacoma office asking you not to support Health Care Reform the way it was presented. You unfortunately thought that we were terribly ignorant and should not be listened to so you supported the bill. We asked that you not support Cap and Trade, again you supported.

That said your newsletter is filled with all sorts of unproven slogans that only time will tell if you were correct. But that said the people of your district shouted loudly and clearly that we did not want what you had to peddle. Over 80% of the people who attended the few Town Halls that you had were against what you were doing but you cared not for our voices and your newsletter highlights this.

If you truly cared for your neighbors you would repent, resign, or retire as you no longer care to represent us, your constituency. You would much rather cow tow to the Democratic Party line. You have lost touch with us and you don’t seem have any readable desire to regain that touch.

Sincerely
James D Rutz

I would encourage everyone to take the time to slam him as he has take the time to slam what we did this past year. And I am sure that he is not alone in putting out this denial piece.
