To send free faxes & emails to the Blue Dog Democrats in Congress (and Todd Platts, too) use this website:

http://www.capitolconnect.com/freeourhealthcarenow/default.aspx

They give you a sample letter, but you can change it completely and say whatever you want about the HC mess. Try it! It is fast, simple and saves so much time. Be creative and use it more than once!

I heard on Fox News that a Congresswoman is introducing a bill to reduce the pay of Congress by 5% and put this towards the debt. Part of this is to also do away with the automatic pay increases. She is already reducing her pay and putting it towards our debt. I say we call Congressman Plattse to challenge him to to sign on. Congresswoman Kirkpatrick said that she does have support on this but didn't mention any names.

Congresswoman Kirkpatrick is a Dem from Arizona. I don't know how she has voted on the important issues, health care/tax & crap, but if she can get THIS bill passed where they all take a pay cut and no longer get automatic raises, then I support her on THIS issue. So get dialing!! Call Congressman Platts today and get him on board. If WE have to tighten our belts, they should have to do the same!!!

Here is a link to her website where she talks about this bill:

http://kirkpatrick.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=855:rep-kirkpatrick-introduces-bill-to-cut-pay-for-members-of-congress-by-five-percent-fighting-against-business-as-usual-in-washington&catid=37:press-releases&Itemid=92

I just called Congressman Platts' office to see if he was on board with this. They said he was not but that this seemed like something that he would co-sponsor. I suggested that he do and I suggest that he hear from more of us today to make sure he does!! I also checked to see if he is still on the right side of this health care issue, NO, and he is.

His DC phone number is 202-225-5836

Only takes a few minutes!!! Let him hear from you today!!!

FYI: I attended the Breakfast Meet'n'Greet with Platts and Grell this morning in Hampden Township. I got there before 8 AM, had some really good coffee, and had a long chat with each of them. Grell & I talked about the governor and his attempt to change the sales tax law to cover the budget shortfall; the state pension shortfall that will be hitting us in 2011; spending; getting the budget done in a timely manner this year; and more on spending. Platts talked about being in Afghanistan with Stryker Division out of Washington State last week (I was on a Caribbean cruise, myself) and how it affects his judgment when it comes to the Armed Forces Committee he serves on. I thanked him for his support of the troops in his capacity as Congressman, and told him my concerns for out of control spending, the unpayable national deficit, the lousy job situation in this economy and the 3,000,000 more potential unemployed who will be graduating from college this May, the illegal immigration problem, the impact (if any) the tea party movement has had in influencing them in Congress and DC this past year (he said it has been huge, even if unacknowledged), and I mentioned seeing him last fall at the Michelle Bachman rally in DC. He said to me, I don't remember seeing you in the group that I spoke to that day, and I told him, I didn't bother stopping in, I went to see all the others that I wasn't sure of, and he got a good laugh out of that. I also did some networking with other people in the local Republican Party group, and will be attending their meetings twice a month to learn about being a Committee Person in my precinct.

March is the time when other town hall style meetings with the candidates take place. Keep your eyes and ears open and get yourself to the one nearest you!

ACTION ALERT!!

For those of us living in US Congressional District 19 and Cumberland County, PA:

This Saturday, March 6, 2010, from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, at the Hampden Twp. Recreation Building Community Room, 5001 Park Street (Ext.), Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, there will be a. . .

"casual opportunity to enjoy a light continental breakfast and discuss issues and campaign plans with US Congressman Todd Platts and State Representative Glen Grell. Guests may come at any time and may stay as long as they desire. Reservations are not required to attend but are preferred for planning purposes. If you would like to make a reservation, please call 717-433-6613 or email grellforhouse@aol.com. Your family and friends are also welcome to attend."

The Hampden Twp. Rec Bldg is located within the Hampden Township Swimming Pool Complex in Cumberland County, adjacent to the Sporting Hill Elementary School. You can get there easily from Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg and from I-81 and Route 11. Right after you pass the light at the large interchange of Routes 581 and 11 (just after the Mechanicsburg Holiday Inn), turn right at the next light at Sporting Hill Road, and turn right again at the very next light onto Park Street (Ext.) This would be an excellent opportunity to communicate with two of our local legislators. Put on your thinking caps and write down some notes so you can ask them intelligent questions. How about: Spending overkill in both PA & the US; budget deadlocks in PA; property tax reform in PA; lack of real leadership in the GOP, both State & Federal; HC reform in US (no thank you!); Cap & Trade implications for our state; gas prices if C&T does become policy; I am sure you have even more ideas. This is an event planned by the Glen Grell for House Committee. Let's take advantage of this!

Is there anyone here in this District interested in being part of Independence Caucus and the interview process of candidates for office? We could use a couple extra members of the Interview Committee. Send me an email here and I'll let you know what is involved.

Hi, Jim. Nice to have you onsite. The website will be less confusing if you click on the various features and see where you end up. The District is basically for members of this district; the other districts are for their members as a forum and sounding board, although you can join anywhere you wish. The PA site is for the use of all PA members to contact and inform on statewide ideas and problems. Then of course you can link up with other state groups, districts, and special interest groups by joining them, too, such as Independence Caucus, Flip This House, The Precinct Strategy, Patrick Henry Caucus, etc. etc.
If you look at the very top of this page, there is a site index that may help you navigate.

I hope you will be an active member of Resistnet. We are all trying to be proactive, not passive, when it comes to directing our energies and keeping this country free and our rights protected by the Constitution.
So don't be shy, just keep informed and pass on what you learn!
