Governor Heineman's office has stooped to Washington ethics in his plan to balance the budget. He is planning to appropriate the agricultural check off money. It's not that much, about $700,000 but the point is: It isn't state money. The check off fund was created to promote the state's agriculutural products. Farmers must pay on every bushel of crop they sell and the money is held in the check off fund. It is a designated collection. Even if you aren't involved in agriculture, it should make your blood boil that he feels entitled to steal someone else's money. Are the Nebraska college savings accounts next??? Call the governor and remind him that taking someone else's money is stealing.
