Letter to Senator Stabenow (for all the good it did me)
I sent the following letter to Senator Stabenow, who proceeded to vote the Baucus bill out of committee the same night.... We are in for a long haul.
Senator Stabenow,
I am writing you once again to express my strong disagreement with any health care reform that has a public option, a publicly funded co-op choice or any kind of trigger event. Government does not belong in our health care. Please do NOT support any bill that contains these options.
That said, I DO believe we need health reform. Please investigate options that will improve REAL competition (government options are NEVER competition), thus reducing rates (allowing insurers to cross state lines, for example).
I DO agree we need to do something about preexisting conditions and unfair coverage terminations, so I fully support reform options there.
I am tired of conservatives being portrayed as hopeless, clueless or unable to provide alternatives. You and your colleagues need to wake up and realize how many of the American people you have offended with that approach.
I realize you are not up for reelection until 2014, but many of your colleagues are up in 2010 and believe me, people are watching. If you cram this down our throats, the 2010 elections will see many incumbents receiving pink slips.

Stabenow might want to think about this. If that garbage they call health care goes through with a public option or any of their triggers by 2014 people are going to be really angry. Of course a lot of the ones who support Obamacare now will by then had a chance to see first hand just how bad it is. Then they will also join us. Next time you might have three million + march on Washington.

Actually, Jennifer - I believe Stabenow is up for re-election in 2012, while Levin is up for re-election in 2014.

I beleive they should get a PINK-SLIP right now to show them that we mean business.Someone on here has a copy of that pink-slip that we should all send to them right now.That way,they will have prior notice of what will happen come 2010 to 2014.Not only is Stabenow like thsi,but also Levin and Kildee.All three of them should get their pink-slips.All she ever sends out is a from letter saying one thing,while she votes right along party lines no matter what.If they don't want under the same plan,they are trying to ram down our throats,then what makes them beleive that we want it.Sure Medicare & Medicade are Government run programs as well,but they are going BROKE as well as our Social Security.They couldn't keep there hands out of our money and now everything seems to being going to HELL in a hand basket.The Government couldn't even keep there very BANK from going under,so they think they can still run our HEALTHCARE.

Jennifer, I have read over and over again (and know from my own personal experience with this Senator) how poorly she regards her constituents. You point out the biggest complaint against both of our Senators--they just don't think we deserve their respect. After I read this post of yours, I was inspired to approach her with a different angle, so I made the subject of my e'mail to her "Encouragement" and this is what I sent her, kind of on yours and all of our behalfs:
Dear Senator Stabenow,
I am a Michigan voter. I have contacted your office previously, and I wanted to respectfully inquire why you only respond with "canned" responses? I don't know if you are aware of the incredible movement that is occuring in Michigan among voters with conservative family values...there is a new website of just women alone that went live on 9/30 with 3 members, and tonite 10/3, there are over 29,000! The biggest complaint I have read among members is that when contacted, you respond to your constituents with "form letter" response (and I can vouch for that). I would respectfully encourage you to respect the people that elected you, and do better that a canned response. With all the voters' remorse out here, there are no guarantees for Democrats in Michigan. We are looking for those who respect our voice and vote. Sincerely, Tina M. Waldrep

Debbie Stabenaw has consistantly voted along with the party's agenda. She is extremist in her views and once said that we need to bring the Fairness Doctrine back (to be used against conservative news and radio - because they are harmful).
She has a great staff - they are nice, respectful and very helpful. I have never called her office and had her staff treat me any other way be nicely and they have always gone out of their way to get me the information I have needed. Debbie is the one who is out of control. The woman does not listen and does not care.
I almost hate to say this - but I can understand why her husband cheats on her. And yes - he does... Maybe in her unhappiness - she's punishing all of us. I don't know - but we really need to do something about it.
Both her and Levin need to go. There should be a break in October, it might be a good idea for a bunch of us to get together, contact her office and GO SEE HER IN PERSON! She has an office in Lansing as well as in Washtenaw county. It wouldn't be that hard to make arrangements and she can't ignore a person (or several of them) like she can ignore a letter or email.
What do you say? I'll go, I've done it before - many times, I can do it again - but just understand - there is more impact with a group than with just one person.

We need to rally outside her offices. Everyone needs to start working with their contacts right now! Those who attended the Tea Party Express stops in MIchigan need to be contacted NOW for their support. The coordinators need to set up dates and times and post them here so we can all take action!
Remember: What do politicians fear the most? Angry voters! We need to show our anger and we need to show our numbers NOW!
