Okay, so now we do is find out who our Precinct Chair is and take these resolutions to them, right? The purpose is to get the Texas Legislators to get them on the floor for a vote. Am I following you correctly?

You must attend the precinct convention following the closing of the polls. It will be held at the same place at which you voted. Once the officers and delegates are elected then the resolutions will be presented. The resolutions will be voted on and those resolutions which are passed will go to the next level: the county (or senate) convention. (The county/senate convention are the same thing, just different names depending on whether your county is completely within one senate district or not. If it is not, you will have a SENATE convention, otherwise it is called a COUNTY convention.)

Each precinct will be allowed a designated # of delegates based on the number of votes from the last gubernatorial election. Those delegates will attend the county/senate convention and the same process follows at this level. Resolutions which pass thru the county/senate convention and on up to the state convention which will be in June up in the Dallas area.

I wonder if children in tow are allowed. Seems this will be a late night thing, and I don't know how people would set up a sitter for such a meeting at those hours.

Check w/your precinct chair for the time. Depending on the size of your precinct and the # of folks that show up, it could be fairly short.

When you vote in the primary, you must select D or R...no cross over voting. So, you get your card stamped in whatever primary you vote in. It doesn't mean anything in particular when the general comes, you can vote for anyone, from any party, who is on the ballot. However, it does make you easier to "credential" for the convention.
