ISLAM AND TERRORISM

To remind ourselves that we are in a perpetual war with fanatics and terrorists who commit atrocities on a daily basis, from slaughtering innocent people in Mumbai to burying young women alive for "family dishonor".

Jihad: An Historical Perspective

For nearly 1400 years, from 400 – 1877, Shariah-Islam succeeded in conquering nearly 25% of the world from Africa to Rome to Persia to Egypt. During this time, Shariah Faithful Muslims killed 270 million Christians, 120 million Africans, 80 million Hindus, and 10 million Buddhists. How did they accomplish this? Violent Jihad.

The defeat of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s Iranian regime in 1979 by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeni reignited the Radical Islamist or Shariah Faithful’s dream of uniting Muslims around the world and establishing a caliphate that would dominate world governments with Islamic political and theological ideology. Shariah Militants consider Jihad the sixth pillar of their faith.

Since September 11, 2001, there have been more than ten thousand terrorist attacks worldwide carried out by men and women who believe that dying for their religious beliefs is more important than life itself.

The strength of today’s Shariah-Islam is much greater than that of the Middle Ages due to the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1920’s and the billions of dollars of Middle East oil money fueling this cause since the 1970’s. The Muslim Brotherhood not only provides focus and leadership, it created a written 14-point strategic plan called The Project which sparked the creation of a network of Shariah organizations each committed to a different kind of Jihad. Here’s just one of the 14 strategic tactics outlined in The Project which justifies in another way the different types of Jihad being waged:

Inflaming violence and keeping Muslims living in the West in a Jihad frame of mind.

The Muslim Brotherhood Project,100-year strategic plan. Dated 1981.

In Mondays paper (The Columbus Dispatch) were two articles. One was titled " 'Lone terrorist' held in Seattle cop killing " about a " lone terrorist" in Seattle who killed a cop, wounded another and fire bombed four police vehicles and had home made pipe bombs in his apartment, his name is "41 year-old Christopher Monfort". This guy with a "w.a.s.p." sounding name like John Smith, Bill Jones or Paul Bunyon is called "a lone terrorist". The second article titled " Fort Hood suspect tied to mosgue of 9/11 hijackers " starts out " The ALLEDGED Fort Hood shooter..." this means if you kill a cop, burn a few cars and have pipe bombs, you are a terrorist even with a "w.a.s.p." sounding name, but if you are a muslim, plan and carry out multple killings on a frigging Army base, hitting over forty people, firing over one hundred rounds you will only be called an "alledged shooter". Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture, or is it just me? Just because he's a muslim they can't or won't call him a terrorist. BULLS*@t! Barak Hussein Obama, a terrorist best friend.

Authorities move to seize U.S. properties allegedly tied to Iran

Federal prosecutors seek the forfeiture of Islamic centers, mosques and other properties they accuse of funneling money to an Iranian bank involved in Tehran's nuclear program.
By Josh Meyer

November 13, 2009

Reporting from Washington - Federal authorities Thursday moved to seize an array of U.S.-based properties, bank accounts and religious sites that they charged in court documents were funneling money to an Iranian bank involved in that country's suspected nuclear weapons program.

Prosecutors sought the forfeiture of assets that included Islamic centers and mosques in California, Maryland, New York City and Houston, as well as land in Virginia.

They also took steps to seize financial control of a 36-story office tower at 650 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan that they said was part of a business empire controlled by the Alavi Foundation. Prosecutors alleged that Alavi has been illegally "providing numerous services to the Iranian government" -- as well as a large amount of funds.

The properties and bank accounts being sought by the government in a civil lawsuit are worth more than $500 million and represent one of the largest attempted seizures of assets allegedly linked to Iran.

"As today's complaint alleges in great detail, the Alavi Foundation has effectively been a front for the government of Iran," U.S. Atty. Preet Bharara said in a statement. "For two decades, the Alavi Foundation's affairs have been directed by various Iranian officials, including Iranian ambassadors to the United Nations, in violation of a series of American laws."

Tenants and occupants of the properties "remain free to use the properties," said Yusill Scribner, a spokeswoman for Bharara's office. "There are no allegations of any wrongdoing on the part of any of these tenants or occupants."

Daniel Ruzumna, a lawyer for Alavi, issued a statement late Thursday that said the foundation was "disappointed that the government decided to bring this civil forfeiture action. The foundation has been cooperating fully with the government since the investigation began. The foundation intends to litigate the government's claims and expects to prevail."

One U.S. official in Washington, who requested anonymity when discussing the case, said that the forfeiture action was not coordinated with the White House. It comes at a time when President Obama is stepping up diplomatic overtures to Iran in an attempt to get it to abandon its nuclear program.

In court documents, prosecutors said Alavi and a related entity were sending money to Bank Melli, which the Treasury Department alleged is owned by the Iranian government and being used to help build its weapons program. U.S. citizens, banks and businesses are barred from using Bank Melli.

A U.S. law known as the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, authorities said, allows properties to be seized as proceeds of violations of money-laundering statutes.

Thursday's action appeared to be the latest move in a long and muddy case against Alavi that began unfolding last year with a grand jury investigation into the foundation's relationship with Bank Melli.

The move was criticized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, which said that a government effort to seize mosques was "unprecedented" and likely to have 1st Amendment implications.

"Whatever the details of the government's case against the owners of the mosques, as a civil rights organization we are concerned that the seizure of American houses of worship could have a chilling effect on the religious freedom of citizens of all faiths and may send a negative message to Muslims worldwide," CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said.

But others said a move by the government to take ownership of a mosque was not likely to raise a legal challenge.

UC Berkeley law professor Jesse Choper cited instances in which the Supreme Court upheld seizures of bookstores or theaters because they were said to be linked to crimes. "Whether it is seizing a mosque or seizing a bookstore, it doesn't mean there is a special 1st Amendment scrutiny," or protection, Choper said.

By nightfall Thursday, authorities had served papers on numerous locations.

In the Northern California town of Carmichael, authorities visited the Qoba Foundation, whose website described it as a Muslim organization "caring for spiritual needs of the community with a range of religious programs and educational activities." The center said it performs Islamic marriages and burial services and provides certification of conversion to Islam, as well as family counseling.

The Alavi Foundation, according to its website, is a nonprofit organization formed in 1973 that makes contributions to nonprofits in the United States "that support interfaith harmony and promote Islamic culture and Persian language, literature and civilization."

Most of the group's money, the website said, comes from rental income from its Manhattan skyscraper. The building houses a variety of offices and shops, including Juicy Couture's flagship clothing store.

Some counter-terrorism and nonproliferation officials hailed the enforcement action, saying it was part of a multifaceted administration effort to force Iran to the bargaining table over its nuclear program.

"What the U.S. government is doing with its relationship to Iran is mixing it up, like a boxer using different kinds of punches," said Jonathan Winer, a State Department official during the Clinton administration who helped lead economic sanctions programs. "They are telling Iran that if you want to talk seriously to us, we are there to talk. And if you want to continue proliferation, we're there to stop you."

Hometown Jihad: Feds Move To Seize 4 Mosques, Tower Linked To Iran
November 12th, 2009 Posted By Erik Wong.

NEW YORK (AP) - Federal prosecutors Thursday took steps to seize four U.S. mosques and a Fifth Avenue skyscraper owned by a nonprofit Muslim organization long suspected of being secretly controlled by the Iranian government.

In what could prove to be one of the biggest counterterrorism seizures in U.S. history, prosecutors filed a civil complaint in federal court seeking the forfeiture of more than $500 million in assets of the Alavi Foundation and an alleged front company.

The assets include Islamic centers in New York City, Maryland, California and Houston, more than 100 acres in Virginia, and a 36-story office tower in New York.

Seizing the properties would be a sharp blow against Iran, which has been accused by the U.S. government of bankrolling terrorism and seeking a nuclear bomb.

A telephone call and e-mail to Iran’s U.N. Mission seeking comment were not immediately answered.

It is extremely rare for U.S. law enforcement authorities to seize a house of worship, a step fraught with questions about the First Amendment right to freedom of religion.

The action against the Shiite Muslim mosques is sure to inflame relations between the U.S. government and American Muslims, many of whom are fearful of a backlash after last week’s Fort Hood shooting rampage, blamed on a Muslim American soldier.

The mosques and the office tower will remain open while the forfeiture case works its way through court in what could be a long process. What will happen to them if the government ultimately prevails is unclear. But the government typically sells properties it has seized through forfeiture, and the proceeds are sometimes distributed to crime victims.

There were no raids Thursday as part of the forfeiture action. The government is simply required to post notices of the civil complaint on the property.

Prosecutors said the Alavi Foundation, through a front company known as Assa Corp., illegally funneled millions in rental income back to Iran’s state-owned Bank Melli. Bank Melli has been accused by a U.S. Treasury official of providing support for Iran’s nuclear program, and it is illegal in the United States to do business with the bank.

Government officials have long suspected the foundation was an arm of the Iranian government; a 97-page complaint details involvement of several top officials in foundation business, including the country’s deputy prime minister and ambassadors to the United Nations.

“For two decades, the Alavi Foundation’s affairs have been directed by various Iranian officials, including Iranian ambassadors to the United Nations, in violation of a series of American laws,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement.

The skyscraper, known as the Piaget building, was erected in the 1970s under the shah of Iran, who was overthrown in 1979. The tenants include law and investment firms and other businesses.

The sleek, modern building, last valued at $570 million to $650 million in 2007, has served as important source of income for the foundation over the past 36 years. The most recent tax records show the foundation earned $4.5 million from rents in 2007.

Rents collected from the building help fund the centers and other ventures, such as sending imprisoned Muslims in the U.S. educational literature. The foundation has also invested in dozens of mosques around the country and supported Iranian academics at prominent universities.

If federal prosecutors seize the skyscraper, the Alavi Foundation would have almost no way to continue supporting the Islamic centers, which house schools and mosques. That could leave a major void in Shiite communities, and hard feelings toward the FBI.

Legal scholars who specialize in religious liberty issues said they know of only a few cases in U.S. history in which law enforcement authorities have seized a house of worship. Marc Stern, a religious-liberty expert with the American Jewish Congress, called such cases “extremely rare.”

The Alavi Foundation is the successor organization to the Pahlavi Foundation, a nonprofit group used by the shah to advance Iran’s charitable interests in America. But authorities said its agenda changed after the fall of the shah.

In 2007, the United States accused Bank Melli of providing services to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and put the bank on its list of companies whose assets must be frozen.

The United States has imposed sanctions against various other Iranian banks and other businesses.
