FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Million Med March – Doctors U.N.I.T.E. Across America
Doctors U.N.I.T.E across America to send a message to Washington D.C. that their professional principles cannot be bought.
USA: November 21, 12:00 PM Local Time, Doctors in every state will come together and protest in the Million Med March - Doctors U.N.I.T.E. Outraged by the notion that if physicians accept a freeze on Medicare cuts, Congress will earn their support. This cannot be further from the truth. Selling out your patients for a profit is not one of the tenants of the Hippocratic Oath. To the contrary physicians of the Million Med March are drawing a line in the sand and are considering dropping government insurance from their practice until reasonable healthcare reform can take place. In an effort to protect their patients the thousands of physician members of the Million Med March have outlined five basic principles:
1. Ultimately, medical decisions need to be made by doctors and their patients.
2. No legislation should become law without serious tort reform.
3. Insurance can be made more affordable by allowing competition drive down costs.
4. Transform the reimbursement and billing systems that are strangling physician’s practices.
5. End the unfair censuring of doctors without due-process.
These 5 principles represent the word U.N.I.T.E. and a cohesive set of ideas by physicians designed to protect patients. If these principles are put into practice healthcare in America would have improved patient care, increased physician access, and significantly decreased costs without affecting the budget. It is time for politicians to start listening to their doctors.
What: Doctors U.N.I.T.E. for Million Med March
When: November 21, 2009
Time: 12:00 PM Local Time
Where: All US states

ObamaCare: Let the Backroom Deals Begin
Should we be surprised that the chief architects of ObamaCare are secretly sequestered somewhere in some Congressional office merging two terrible healthcare bills into one?Of course not.
Even the very liberal Washington Post is raising an eyebrow, wondering aloud why President Obama, who promised transparency and even televised discussions so "people can see" what is going on, has taken everything underground so the American people (who don't want this bill) can't angrily react to:
-- A gutting of Medicare Benefits.
-- Skyrocketing insurance premiums.
-- Soaring tax hikes.
-- Health care rationing.
In Obama-nation, we are merely subjects to be ordered around and told what to do...
++ Emergency Petition Delivery to EVERY Senate Office!
Our sources tell us the bill could be completed as soon as the end of this week. That's why I am announcing an emergency petition delivery to EVERY SENATE OFFICE next Tuesday (Oct. 27).
For this delivery, I'm putting the call out to members of ResistNet teams to help me deliver petitions opposing ObamaCare to each of the 100 Senators on Capitol Hill. If you'd like to be a part of these presentations don't wait...

For those who cannot make the trip, I need you to reach, rally and mobilize 750,000 citizen petitions.
Right now we are about 200,000 petitions shy of this incredible goal. Forward this message to 35-40 friends--young and old-- those who stand to be the hardest hit should ObamaCare become a reality, and demand they take action with you by signing our petition.

This could be the last opportunity we have to make our collective voices heard prior to this bill coming to the Senate floor, and it is imperative that our opposition to this socialist health care bill reverberates through every office, every hallway, and every nook and cranny in every Senate building come Tuesday!

Townhall information for AZ-2 (8/8/2009): Update
It was a great event - I'd put the crowd at just under 100 - but I didn't do a hard count. Informative meeting - fortunately Mr. Franks is one of the good guys. If you didn't attend, we covered healthcare, HR1207 (Audit the Fed), the Swine Flu, Constitution/Sovereignty.

Congressman Trent Franks stance on healthcare:

"Thank you for contacting me regarding our nation's healthcare system. I appreciate hearing from you about this vital issue. Inflation in healthcare prices has reached double digits. Single year premium increases can be as high as 50 percent. Millions of Americans have no plan to address their current and future healthcare needs. The situation is dire, and Congress must act to restore some fiscal sanity to our healthcare marketplace.

As a business owner, I have seen first-hand the difficulties in providing health coverage. As an elected Representative, I strongly believe that the surest way to improve American healthcare is to empower individuals to make their own decisions. I believe that increased access and greater competition will make health plans more responsive to the demands of their customers, improve service, expand benefit options, and increase the numbers of small employers who provide coverage. To that end, I have supported:

Health Savings Accounts: HSAs are tax free personal accounts that individuals can use to cover routine medical costs. When combined with a high-deductible insurance plan to cover catastrophic costs, HSAs provide an ideal healthcare solution for many individuals and families. Additionally, HSAs foment price competition in the medical community, provide a lower cost option for employers who otherwise would be unable to offer plans for their employees and limit administrative costs (currently 20 percent of all health care dollars). Further, HSAs are completely portable, staying with the individual even after job loss.

Association Health Plans (AHPs): Would provide access and choice for small businesses with respect to health care for their employees. With so few remaining competitors, benefits and health plan choices are decreasing. Association Health Plans can help remedy this lack of access to affordable health insurance for small businesses.

Additionally, I strongly support:

Medical Liability Reform: Without exception, every sector of the health care system would benefit from limiting the increasing awards of non-economic damages. These punitive damage awards often benefit only trial lawyers and do nothing to protect patients from malicious medical practices. We must reform the system so that frivolous cases get thrown out while genuine malpractice cases are brought to a fair and just conclusion.

Overhaul the Medicare reimbursement structure: The current Medicare payment structure provides inadequate reimbursement for hospitals and doctors. In fact, the only thing this system provides in abundance is paperwork. The system provides too much bureaucracy and too little access to care. Further, since Medicare is our nation(s largest healthcare provider and many private insurers base their fee schedule on Medicare rates, the repercussions are felt throughout the system. Medicare reimbursement rates must be brought in line with the actual cost of services provided.

I will continue to work diligently to turn these reforms into law.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. I wish you the very best in life, and I hope you will continue to inform me of the issues that concern you. In the meantime, please feel free to visit my website at http://www.house.gov/franks."

Most sincerely,

Trent Franks

Thought I'd share this:

Dear Southwest Valley Taxpayer,

(Please forward this to your friends in Buckeye, El Mirage, Glendale, Goodyear, Avondale, Litchfield Park, Peoria, and Waddell!)

Arizona has a chance to set a great example for America. Arizona has the worst budget deficit in the country, on a per-capita basis, because of the huge spending increases enacted by Gov. Janet Napolitano and the Legislature during the past six years. If Arizona can resolve this crisis without raising taxes, we will do the nation a great service. Arizona can serve as a counter-example to the dangerous national trend of tax-and-spend crisis management.

Friday, June 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, the Arizona Chapter of Americans for Prosperity Foundation is sponsoring a Taxpayer Town Hall meeting at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park (three miles west of 101 and W. Indian School Road). Here is a link to a map and directions:

http://www.wigwamresort.com/meetingsbrochure/map-directions-fact-sheet.html

Speakers will include Representatives Steve Montenegro and Jerry Weiers of Legislative District 12, AFPF Arizona director Tom Jenney, Goldwater Institute education policy expert Dr. Matthew Ladner, Goldwater Institute tax and budget studies director Byron Schlomach. We have made room in the schedule for more than an hour of Q&A from the public at this nonpartisan event.

Please RSVP to infoAZ@afphq.org, and let us know you're coming. The room we have rented seats 100 people, so we need to know as soon as possible if we will need to make accommodations for more persons. There is no charge for this event.

It is very important for Tea Partiers and other Southwest Valley taxpayers to come to this event. The town hall meetings sponsored by other organizations tend to be dominated by the spending lobbies, whose members come in large numbers to beg legislators to raise taxes and spend more of your hard-earned money.

AFPF-Arizona wants to send another big THANK YOU to the thousands of taxpayer activists who came to the April 15 Tea Party at the Arizona State Capitol. You took an important stand in the fight to save our country from the Big Taxers, Big Spenders, and Big Debtors who are trying to lead us down the road toward ever-bigger government. Like you, we are fed up with tax increases, federal bailouts, mounting debt burdens on our grandchildren, and government takeovers of the private sector (including health care).

Please forward this announcement to other Southwest Valley taxpayers and Tea Partiers!
