Folks,
I received this from my sister in Alabama. The first comment below is hers. I live in Georgia, but apparently they took my vote. After I voted I had to go to page 3 and scroll down to view the results but it showed those in favor of rewriting the Alabama constitution at 64% and those opposed to the rewrite at 36%. I don’t know what impact this poll will have on this issue but I’d appreciate it if everyone would vote “NO” and then send this to every conservative you know.

This is very important for Alabama. The yeas have twice as many votes as the nays, but if Artur Davis is pushing for a re-write of Alabama's Constitution he has big Special Interest Groups to pay back and no good will come out of the re-write of our State Constitution. You do not have to register or sign-in to vote. The vote is on the right side in a small gray box labeled Quick Vote. You will need to scroll down just a bit to see the poll.
Please vote NO to an Alabama Constitution re-write.
------------------------------------ORIGINAL MESSAGE------------------------------------
Vote right now in a poll at
http://www.al.com/news/ concerning the rewrite of the
Alabama Constitution. Read below for details.
Alabama Liberals are always looking for ways to raise taxes.
The current Alabama Constitution makes it difficult to raise taxes, and some most taxes like property taxes require a vote of the people. Thus for the education lobby and other special interest groups, they are motivated to make you think that the
current Alabama Constitution needs to go.
This new constitution will be written by modern day liberals not by those
who held traditional values and believed in less government in our society as they did in 1901. It will be written by those who have the ability and money to get elected as a delegate, like members of the Alabama Legislature. Would you trust those who are in the Alabama Legislature to write a new constitution? Will they represent the people, or will they represent the special interest groups who fund their election?
Support
Support for the new constitution comes from:
Liberal newspapers
Education Lobby and Teachers Union
Casino and Gambling interests
Any group wishing to make it easier to raise taxes
Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform
Opposition
Opposition to a new Constitution and tax increases:
Groups opposing taxes comes from companies like Alfa, Alabama Power, phone companies and other corporations.
Property owners, land owners and timber companies.
Those who oppose gambling, as the new constitution is expected to drop the prohibition against gambling.
Private and Christian school groups who are not publicly financed.
Those who believe in less government.
Those who want their personal rights protected as under the current constitution.
Read the facts about the proposed new Alabama Constitution and read
why we need to keep our current Constitution to protect our
fundamental rights.
