Would you want Barack Obama to re-write the U.S. Constitution? Say NO to a Constitutional Convention

Imagine something? What if Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi had the opportunity to re-write the United States Constitution? What if the hordes of big-government liberals had the opportunity to write the Supreme Law of Land? What would this document include? I can guarantee that it will include provisions that make America look like Socialized Europe on a fast track to collectivism and statism.

If Conservatives join in the fight for a Constitutional Convention, we will be handing over the keys to the kingdom. Allowing the Leftist Liberals to rewrite our Constitution is like giving a masked-murderer the keys to your home and telling him where you and your children sleep.

As of now ResistNet.com and Grassfire.org are 100% against calling for a Constitutional Convention. Now is not the time for a convention. The time for a Constitutional Convention is when conservatives are in power.

Right now, conservatives should be focused on building the conservative base and electing conservatives to every office in local, state, and federal elections.

+++ A History Lesson

A Constitutional Convention has not been assembled since 1787. The delegates to this Convention included freedom-loving patriots who had just fought a hellish war for independence against the tyranny of the English crown. Our Founding Fathers drew upon their Judeo-Christian worldview and created a Supreme Law of the Land that upheld rights from our Creator, respected the rule of law, protected individual rights, and limited the power of government.

Just imagine what would be protected by a modern liberal Constitution…. the right to an abortion, the right for all illegal immigrants to freely enter into our nation and use our resources, the right to a house, the right to a cell phone, the right to the internet, the right to cable television, the right to cosmetic surgery. The Liberal Constitution would include an endless list of individual rights that come from the government to protect “the common good.” Basically, a new Constitution would create a “cradle to the grave” Nanny State.

To accompany these rights will be higher taxes, infinite government control, and less freedom for you and our children.

+++Our U.S. Constitutional Convention Null & Void

If a modern Constitutional Convention would be declared today, the current U.S. Constitution would be NULL and VOID—effectively allowing the liberals in power to rewrite the entire manuscript. Former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger said it best, “ There is no effective way to limited or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda.”

Do we want Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid rewriting our Constitution? I don’t think so. Calling for a Constitutional Convention at this time would be political suicide for Conservatives and suicide for the United States.

But there are elements in our current Congress as well as current President who are trying to legislate changes in our Constitution by having it hidden within treaties and give our sovereignty over to the United Nations so America can be disarmed. My family too has fought, bled and died for this country for more than a century. No we do not need a new constitution, but rather we need our legislators to adhere to it. Nowhere in our Constitution is government control of our healthcare but look at the push for control now. We must all stand up for our Constitution and fight the attempts to destroy it and our freedoms.; ▶ Reply to This

Once the door is opened slightly, human nature dictates it will be kicked in the rest of the way, no matter who is in charge. I hope people will stop and think hard about this. As with many things we think sound good and reasonable at the time we ponder them, it is, unfortunately, only in hindsight that we see the irreversible and irreperable harm that we've done. The U.S. Constitution, while imperfect because it was done by imperfect human beings, is brilliant, and was completed in a very different, albeit better, time in history by men who were well-educated in classical thought in many subjects. We do not have many people like that now. There are certain aspects that could be properly amended for the benefit of us all but a partail or even total re-write, I believe, would be distrous, no matter how good the intentions. While I realize that the justice for all has been trampled on quite a bit as of late, just think about what it would be like if you didnt even have that right, when we wouldnt be able to get rid of the libs because we allowed them to throw out our Constitution and replace it with whatever the h*ll they felt like. Because we no longer had even a two party system, just tyranny and justice for the almight one who remains in charge in perpetuity. Permalink Reply by Mulle on October 4, 2009 at 2:28pm: Before Harry, Nancy and Obama were given so much power over our Nation, one of my biggest concerns was that we would never have another election to get rid of them, that they would see to it somehow, that they be left to rule us, take our defenses away by removing our weapons from our homes and our right to vote. This is only one way they can do it, but it is a substantive measure that they seek.
