I have posted this for Joan, a member of a 9-12 group who will soon be joining our group. This is just another example of how we can work together.


Good Morning and Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to all who have and are still fighting for our freedoms!

I have posted this on my local 9/12 groups message board, but I wanted to reach a larger group of people. Get some more ideas as to handle the "situation". This is a little bit more detailed then what I posted on my local boards based on some of the comments that I have received :)

Some background information: My son is 8 years old, Anthony, goes to the local public school. I live in a rural area of PA, the school system is 'decent' for what it is. I am a single mom (father is dead) of two of limited means. I work a full time job, and I take care of my handicapped mother (who also lived with me up until recently).

I watched the 9/12 show from my home, and parts of it on the internet, and a lot of it hit home, I decided that I needed to be involved. My children saw how excited I was that there were other people who believed the same things that I did, wanted to become involved as well, we went to our local meetings, and they were hooked. They understand the values and the principles of the 9/12 project, and wanted to help! This quickly became a family affair.

At the third meeting of our local chapter, I volunteered to start a membership "focus group". Basically- I get to help be in charge of recruiting :) The kids were excited to help. The next week or two we discussed as a family what the best chances were to get the word out, and started to work on fliers, and recruiting material, based off what the "founder" of our group had already printed out for us.

This past week, I was working on another flyer and my son comes up to me, and says, "Hey mom! Can I take some of these fliers to school, and give them to my teachers, and some of my friends to take to their parents." Totally dumbfounded and full of Pride, I agreed. I was just really excited that Anthony wanted to do this.

I handed him about 10 fliers, asked him to tell me what he thought the pamphlet meant in his own words (in case questioned). He responded, "Ma, it's not about red and blue, it's about doing what's right". After a few more bits and pieces of discussion.... he went on to say, "Because we are doing this, we are trying to help make sure that I have the same freedoms as our founding fathers promised me in the Constitution..." (I did something good!)

Anyway, he got on the bus the next day, handed a flyer to his bus driver.... Hit the school, and handed one to roaming teacher, then got to his homeroom, and handed one to his homeroom teacher. His teacher looked at the brochure and said, "Anthony, don't hand anymore of these out until after I talk to the Principal". About 10 minutes later the teacher came back and told Anthony that he could not hand out the fliers anymore "Because some people DO NOT believe in God."

I got home from work that night and Anthony explained to me what happened. I was in shock! I was mad! I wanted to go up there and litter the campus with the brochure (of course I didn't)! I posted Anthony's plight on our message boards. Someone mentioned something about checking to see if the school has rules about non-curriculum based hand-outs. I went to the school website, and found that I, did indeed screw up! The following is taken directly from the student handbook:

"The Board requires that students who wish to distribute or post nonschool materials on school property shall submit them one (1) school day in advance of planned distribution or posting to the building principal or designee, who shall forward a copy to the district Superintendent.
If the nonschool written materials contain unprotected expression as stated in this policy, the building principal or designee shall notify the students that they may not post or distribute the materials because the materials constitute a violation of Board policy.
If notice is not given during the period between submission and the time for the planned distribution or posting, students may proceed with the planned distribution or posting, provided they comply with written administrative regulations or procedures on time, place and manner of posting or distribution of nonschool materials."

It goes on to say....

"School officials shall not censor or restrict nonschool written materials or other student expression for the sole reason that it is critical of the school or its administration, or because the views espoused are unpopular or may make people uncomfortable.
Student-initiated religious expression is permissible and shall not be prohibited except as to time, place and manner of distribution, or if the expression involved violates some other part of this policy, e.g., because it is independently determined to be unprotected expression under the standards and definitions of this policy."

So I wrote a nice letter to the school principal, sighting the portions of the student handbook, and requesting a response in writing as to why Anthony can not hand out these fliers. This was on Tuesday- it went into the principal on Wed.

I received a voicemail from the principal (which shocked me, as schools were closed yesterday) and I will paraphrase here: "I received your note in regards to the flyer that Anthony wanted to pass out in school, and forwarded it on to the superintendent, who in turn has said that Anthony is NOT allowed, and the superintendent does NOT want those fliers handed out in school. If you have any questions please call me...."

Now, on Tuesday, when school opens- I will be on the phone first thing with the principal, requesting her response in writing, as to what part of the student handbook these fliers violate. In the meantime, I am trying to get a feel as to where next to turn.

People have told me to contact the ACJL, Beck, Hannity and local TV stations (which by the way- are all really really left leaning) and newspapers.

Choosing to teach is one thing. Choosing for whom you will teach is another. Expediency is not the golden rule in God's Kingdom, only in this present world....

Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednigo chose the lion's den over teaching others ways not in accordance with God. Yes, they would have taught others Christians can be bought, if the price is high enough. Daniel chose not to be a high priced whore, even at the price of his life,.....

Each day God's Spirit shows a teacher someone who needs a scripture, and they do not, they have fallen short, they have served their paycheck rather than their Redeemer, and the scripture calls that idolatry, and it calls idolatry harlotry. They have played the harlot. This is basic. Even the earth kings know these things, but Christians whom God says of them, "You are kings and priests..." they make excuses for themselves, ....

Their own faith is eroded by their own failure to act as God directs, daily.




If those teachers can say God never does show me any one in school who needs a scripture , then

I'm sorry, I disagree with everybody. You're all looking at this issue from YOUR viewpoint. What if someone wanted flyers passed out that YOU don't agree with.

Flyers have no place in the public schools. CA had a big issue with teachers who wore Obama buttons during the campaign.

These rules are for the protection of all. Be careful of the Pandora box you wish to open. You may not like what comes out.

Just explain to your children and figure out another way for them to share.

Shouldn't we all be asking God to show us how scripture divides this situation?

Whom shall we serve, the state or God

The outstretched hand of the state with it's paycheck for doing things to please it
or the word of God with His blessing for doing things to please HIM.

There should be Christian schools by Christian parents for Christian children.

I had a simillar issue at my goverment school right after the Tea Party's! My 9 year old was on TV and wanted to share that with his class and was told because of the "political nature" and that it was a "public school" and he was not allowed! All this 9 year old wanted to do was show his class mates himself on TV and he was denied. One of the organizers wrote a beautiful note to the teacher, principal and the superintendant. The only one that responded was the teacher and her reply was that there was not enough time to share at the time. My son was not told he would be able to do it later, he was told never!
What ever you do remember that your son might be the one that will have to pay the penalty to speaking out and be labled for the duration he is at that school. My son has been singled out not to share in his class! For this one issue, I will be home schooling my children! Good luck and God speed! Cari in GA

Terri,

Schools aren't allowed to quash dissent. No where in the school handbook does it say please check your rights in at the door. Your child has rights. If you want to follow up with www.aclj.org, I definitely recommend it. They are the equivilent of the ACLU, except they're a conservative group.

The pure answer is to have Christian school for Christian children of Christian parents.

There is no way it is God's will to send children to schools that deny Him, ostracize Him, and even contradict Him.

The founder of the homosexual activist group GLSEN, which promotes homosexual clubs in high schools, middle schools
and grade schools and is the driving force behind the annual "Day of Silence" celebration of homosexuality in many districts, has been handed a federal appointment where he will be responsible for overseeing "safety" in the nation's public schools.

Linda Harvey of Mission America, which educates people on anti-Christian trends in the nation, said it is nothing more than a "tragedy" for an open homosexual who has "had an enormously detrimental impact on the climate in our schools" to be in such a position.

The appointment of Kevin Jennings was posted – with little fanfare – on a government list of federal jobs recently. He was named by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to be the Assistant Deputy Secretary in the Office of Safe Schools.

He previously worked to raise money for the presidential campaign for President Obama.

In the new post, he'll be working on "safe schools" programs for educational institutions nationwide, said Harvey.

"In his own writings and books listed on the GLSEN [Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network] Website, I've reported, Kevin Jennings has given tacit nods of approval to sex between young teens and adults," Harvey told WND. "In addition to that, the writings and books, many of which I've read and are incredibly graphic, seem to normalize early teen same-sex sexual behaviors."

"It is unconscionable. This is educational malpractice and child corruption," she said.

On Jennings' own website, a biographical sketch talks about how his work as an activist started when he used a school assembly in a district where he was a teacher to announce his homosexuality.

He soon started the GLSEN activist group and, the report said, "has spent the last 12 years building GLSEN into a national organization at the forefront of a bold movement that now works with over 3,000 Gay-Straight Alliances."

But a blogger who calls himself Beetle Blogger cited another statement from Jennings about his early promotion of homosexuality in schools.

The blogger quoted Jennings saying, "We immediately seized upon the opponent's calling card – safety – and explained how homophobia represents a threats to students' safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems
, and suicide are common. Titling our report, 'Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth,' we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This … short-circuited their arguments and left them back-peddling from day one."

Harvey said the appointment really is not surprising, given the pro-homosexual position adopted by Obama and Jennings' fund-raising for the Democrat.

But she warned when "safe" is combined with "LGBT" as is happening at the federal agency, "What you have is the silencing of any conservative opinion. That's what they consider safety."

"This is an outrageous 'in-your-face, take this, we don't care about your version of safety' for kids," she said.

She also cited the introduction in Congress of H.R. 2262 by U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., which is "to amend the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act" to include pro-homosexual language that could use the issue of bullying to force indoctrination sessions for both students and teachers.

The proposed training would relate to "real or perceived" sexual orientation and gender identity, she said.

"How does this work? Well, let's look at an example from a state that already passed a similar law. In Iowa, teachers in some school districts endure the most outrageous in-service training imaginable. The Council Bluffs, Iowa, school district, Loess Hills Area Education Agency 13, gives a two-day teacher training course called 'How to Make My Classroom Safe for LGBT Students.' As part of the training, 'Videos will be used from Anderson Cooper 360, 'Will & Grace,' and several popular film segments like 'Brokeback Mountain' and 'Latter Days,''" Harvey said.

"This man's work and his agenda are exactly why we've seen the radical pro-homosexuality curriculum pushed across California. He is now more strongly positioned to implement his agenda nationwide," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

In Duncan's announcement appointing Jennings, he said GLSEN "works to make schools safe for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity."

Suggestion for Joan.

Not without planning to have a rep from ACLJ or other pro-truth/freedom, Pro Bono being present thereat request a meeting.

Have Anthony (sounds like he has the heart) do the research on the web, citing things like the 'NW ordinance' i.e. "Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged. " Have him look at source docs only and then have him prepare questions for the board members/principal/teachers et al, as to what they think that and other select, pertinent FF's writings mean.

He need not defend your/his position. Just -- ask --- questions. Make sure that it is his and not your presentation, though tell him he can ask you questions as he puts together his presentation. However, I would encourage you to give open answers in the form of questions. The dialectic approach will draw out his intellect and prepare him for their questions. Take this approach with truth and the innocence of a child and I believe he will decimate them!

When he has prepared, secure a meeting with all parties concerned. The Pro Bono is there to observe and keep the adults from frustrating the young mans pure effort. Hopefully their hard hearts will be softened by the young man ... as it has been said, 'out of the mouth of babes!'

I personally believe that schools should be a place for education and nothing more: no politics and no religion at all. School is meant to prep a kid for a future job and not to throw ideology on him/her which should be done independently. If they were going to side with one and teach it in school they must teach the other to be fair. I know most people here wouldn't want their kids to learn about evolution but I have taught my kids both fairly and let them make their own minds up. School should always be a gray area in respect of both religion and politics.
Even though i believe this I still oppose what the school district did. They should have been much more upfront about this and should have spent more time reviewing the material.

Yes, I couldn't of said that any better myself Daniel. School is a place of learning, and should be kept seperate of politics and religion. Idealogy should be indepently sought and learned privately by any student. Most importantly doing this to any student could have negative effects on there "capacity and desire to learn". I do believe they should teach evolution, there is plenty of evidence to support its existence. Along with other things that have been brushed aside, or just outright put down because someone simply didn't agree with what was being taught. Just like Christians don't believe in Evolution, and Atheists don't believe in Adam and Eve. Really in all the fine line has been drawn, so you are where you stand.
