That’s right. The government stimulus-tracking website recovery.gov is touting jobs “saved or created” in congressional districts that do not exist. Worse? Millions of dollars reportedly went to these phantom places. Where’s the money?

Recovery.gov says that Arizona’s 15th congressional district created 30 jobs with $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts. In Oklahoma $19 million in spending created only 15 jobs in yet more congressional districts that don’t exist.

In Iowa, it shows $10.6 million spent and 39 jobs created in nonexistent districts. In Connecticut’s 42nd district (which also does not exist), the Web site claims 25 jobs created with zero stimulus dollars.

U.S. territories also get in on the action: $68.3 million spent and 72.2 million spent in the 1st congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands. $8.4 million spent and 40.3 jobs created in the 99th congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the Northern Mariana Islands, there was $1.5 million spent and .3 jobs created in the 69th district, and $35 million for 142 jobs in the 99th district. (How do you create a fractional job?!)

Ed Pound, Communications Director for the recovery Board has this defense:

“We report what the recipients submit to us.”

Ed blames the problem on “human error”. Why isn’t the onus on the oversight board to track where the money has gone? IS recovery.gov just a list of what the states report, and not a true tracking by the feds? Are they just fudging the numbers??

Here’s a little civics lesson for the folks at the White House: Every ten years the Census counts the population of each state and allots representation in the House based on how many people live in each state. The more people a state has, the more congressional districts it gets. Only one state is big enough to have more than 40 congressional districts – California – and it has just 53. So how can Arizona have 86? Or the Virgin Islands (which isn’t even a state) have 99?

Of course, we already knew that there were big problems with the way the Administration was counting jobs “saved or created” as a result of stimulus spending. Evidently they don’t even know where the money is being spent.

There are only two possible explanations for this. One is deceit – arrogant officials thinking they could get away with it, that no one would ever dare question them. The other explanation isn’t any better: Ignorance. This was supposed to be the smartest administration ever. Yet they have no idea how many congressional districts there are? Perhaps those ACORN workers who did such a bang up job on voter registration are now in charge of accounting for the stimulus spending!

This how a liberal buddy of mine spined it.
This is a blog! It is not a reputable news source of any kind. It focuses on a total of 70 jobs, not the 3 million saved or created by federal contracting and subsidies to keep employees on payroll during the budget shortfalls.

That link is what I call "horse shit."

Tell your buddy to check out the ABC website because they have the story. It can be linked through Drudge. This one is big for the conservative side because the normal ABC bloggers are always pro-Obama and I read about 250 of the comments-maybe 2 trying to spin it that is really is just an error.

"Human Error' is a CYA statement if there ever was one! It's total BS, plain and simple!

Mr. Joe Biden came out today and told the web site to correct the errors. So lets see what happens now. John Stossel reported this yesterday, so I guess their running scared.
