She returns to her home every week via a 737. Fuel cost for that plane to L.A. from Dulles AP runs well over 50, 000. these figures are very conservative.
Lets do it another way and these figures come right from Boeing.
Let's run the numbers on the latest model of the Boeing 737-900. The plane burns about 2.4 gallons per nautical mile, and a trip from New York to Los Angeles, California, is about 2,100 nautical miles. So that means it would take about 5,000 gallons of Jet-A fuel to fly coast to coast. Now jet fuel is selling at my AP for over 3.00 per Gal. Remember these figures do not include maintenance, Crew salaries, landing fees handling fees, no, and on it goes.
