Guns, what an awesome topic. lol i love this.
Now, I don't now how many of you know this, but the UN has been trying to get our government to take our guns for some time now. I live in Illinois and the gun laws are complete b.s. I want to move southwest lol.
I have been telling people for a long time now that if Obama really believed in the Constitution why didn't he help those law abiding citizens in his own district get their rights returned? Seems obama only wants those who are criminals to use them. he doesn't even want us to be able to defend ourselves against the criminal. they want to make it illegal for us to protect ourselves. who was it that said that if an intruder comes into your home you need to sneak out the window to protect yourself instead of using a gun. what is that? we have to give up our rights and leave our home to criminals? what kind of right is that?
i suggest that everyone in this forum read the Cloward-Piven Strategy @ http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/barack_obama_and_the_strateg...
this will explain exactly what obama is doing. he learned this strategy in columbia and he taught it in the university of chicago. now he is applying it as president. thank you for your time. annie
Gun sales are up 600 percent. There is a shortage of ammo and hard to get guns in many places. Criminals can get the guns easier. That's ok because we will be deemed criminals if we have a gun according to OBAMA.
He fosters the murder of babies and old people but not the defense of decent folks in the country. Something needs to be done to end liberalism in this country.

And I'm looking to buy not only a gun, but reloaders too. Any idea if the new "proposals" address gun reloading equipment? I had a gunsmith/friend years ago that hardly ever bought ammo, he would just police his brass, and reload it........it was a lot cheaper and still is I'm sure.
Yes, they will try to restrict reloaders, and that would happen due to the requirement for a number to be etched on the brass and the bullet butt.
I am in the process of learning to reload my 45 ACP ammo, as it is 35 cents per round in the stores, but about half that to reload...not counting the initial reloading equipment cost, of course. I am going to consider it "Therapy"...
Here are my thoughts on the matter. The Founding Fathers gave us the right to bear arms for three reasons. First, so that we can protect ourselves. I think it is irrefutable that when private citizens are allowed to own weapons that crime goes down. It has been proven as far back as 1608 in Okinawa when the Japanese Shogunate banned weapons under penalty of death and banditry skyrocketed. Why people think removing weapons from the law abiding is somehow going to stop the criminals in our society is beyond me. It is completely counter intuitive. Besides, how many people with a concealed carry permit are involved in criminal activity in a manner other than stopping it?
The second reason so we can protect our nation. Okay, I admit we no longer have a hostile nation sitting on our border. However, we do have people going after our neighbors (criminals, etc). And we do have the specter of terrorism. I think it is quite possible, even likely, that terrorism will come to us here in the US. My expectation would be for a series of shopping mall shootings with a few guys carrying grenades and automatic weapons. I know some anti gun activists will say “what about crossfire! Innocent people will be killed!” To this I reply, “more than if the bullets are flying in only one direction?”
The third reason, and the one I never hear a politician mention, is we have the right to bear arms in order to protect ourselves FROM our nation. The Founding Fathers just got finished fighting a brutal war to remove an oppressive government. Without guns, we would still be British subjects. The British knew this, which is why the very first battle, Lexington and Concord, were a result of the British trying to seize the colonists weapons and gunpowder. An armed citizenry is the final check on the power of the State. Without it, we are completely at the mercy of those in power, whether they are elected to that office or not.
That is why I own a gun and will resist any attempt to remove my right to do so. I daresay I will even consider hiding it from the government. It would be a real shame if my gun was “stolen” and I no longer had it, except in my dresser drawer.
All this is not to say I am opposed to all gun control measures. I think there are common sense limitations that protect society and assist law enforcement in catching bad guys while leaving law abiding citizens alone. Requiring safety training prior to the issuing of a concealed carry permit for example. Age limitations. Even registration of the weapon like we register cars. I think these, while putting some limitations on the total freedom of weapon ownership, helps to protect society without undue burden. Obama's positions like banning handguns and levying a heavy tax on ammunition does not fall into that category.

I agree with the three reasons above, but not the order. The Primary reason for the Second Amendment was to protect our God-given rights from our own government.
